Short Report on Knockmealdown Crossing from the Chairperson |
|
|
The day was a great sucess with 133 people participating in the various walks. Despite a poor start to the day the weather improved as the day progressed. First home on the A Walk was Kian Clegg from the Dublin club, the Wayfarers, with a blistering time of 5 hours and five minutes. This walk took most people eight to nine hours. He was followed closely by Walter Keane from Kilkenny and Colm Ennis of Rathgormack Climbing Club. The B and C walks were led walks and were greatly enjoyed by the participants judging by the very positive comments from everyone back in the Community Hall in Newcastle, where a very welcome hot meal awaited the walkers. We would like to thank everyone who participated and all our club members who assisted on the day. A special thank you goes to the people of Newcastle for the use of their Community Hall. Everyone commented on the hospitality they received and on the great athmosphere in the village at the end of the walk.
