New Walking Season Begins Print

Peak's Mountaineering Club Notes  31st August 2009

Summer break is over and the Peaks members are back on the mountains for the start of the new season’s walking.  All walks on Sunday 6th September are in the Galtees and the early walk at 9.30 is led by Kevin Bowen. The 10.30 walk is led by Ger Barrett and the 11.30 walk is led by Miriam Joyce assisted by Anne Lynch. The afternoon walk is led by Jim O Flaherty with Seamus Maher and Sean Walsh assisting. All the walks are step up walks and members are encouraged to avail of this opportunity to try the walk at a level above their normal walk. The leaders will adjust the walk pace to suit individual capabilities. Being the Sunday it is with the boys from the premier county battling it out with the cats wearing the county colours on the day is suggested.
We have a busy few weeks ahead with an away trip to the Backstairs planned for Sunday 13th led by Ciaran Culleton. Please put your name on the notice board in Eldon’s if you wish to walk on the day or contact Nuala on 0868357290 as a bus needs to booked.
The AGM of the Peaks Club takes place on Thursday the 17th September in the Clonmel Resource Centre in Kickam Street at 8pm.This meeting sets the tone for the coming year and deals with the business of the club in the various reports of the clubs officers. The new officer board for the coming year will be elected and plans made for away trips and other social matters. Then any other business item on the agenda allows for any issue of concern to a club member to be discussed and afterwards there is a social cup of tea or drink in Eldon’s. Please make an effort to attend this meeting as this is the member’s night to shape the running of their club. More details from Nuala on 0868357290 or Bernard on 0862937220. If you have access to a computer log on to the Peaks website on www.peaksmcclonmel.ie for a full list of fixtures and club news.
