Information Nights to continue for October Print

Peaks Mountaineering Club  Notes      4th October 2009

The walking season is in full swing again and the meets list for October November, and December has been emailed to members and is in the information box in Eldon’s. If a club member is having difficulties obtaining a list call Martha on 0879107201 and she will post out a copy.
Congratulations to our new skills course participants who have now graduated to walk leaders and we look forward to their new role in the club. Well done all.
The introductory talk for new and intending members in Eldon’s on Wednesdays evening was a great success and will be repeated each Wednesday evening for the month of October at 9.30pm. This information night is a no obligation night and will give information on the club, its walks and type of walking equipment which is needed to keep safe on our lovely mountains which in South Tipperary we are fortunate to have on our doorstep. There will be samples of equipment and some guidelines to cost all of which is stocked locally in Cuileoga on the corner of Mary Street and in Pets and Hardware in Abbey Street. However the good news is that the first two walks are free and all you need are a stout pair of boots and a jacket. Tell your friends about this great way to stay healthy and enjoy nature’s bounty at home.
Walks next Sunday the 11th October are all in the Galtees. If you can lay your hand on ordinance survey map no 74 bring it along to mark in the walk for future reference. The 10am walk is led by Gerry Treacy with John Byrne assisting. The 12.00pm walk is led by P.J.O.Meara with Aine Lynch and Fionnuala Kennedy assisting. All walks leave from Eldon’s at the given time with a pick at the Co-Op Stores in Cahir a few minutes later. Please note the new time schedule for this season. Log onto our website for further information at www.peaksmcclonmel.ie or call the PRO Bernard on mobile no 0862937220
The Peaks Mountaineering Club extends its condolences to John Byrne on the death of his father Tom Byrne, Derravoher last weekend. To John and family our condolences. May he rest in peace.
